AI Governance
Policies, controls, and accountability for AI inside an organization.
Definition
AI governance is the set of policies, processes, and controls that determine how AI is built, deployed, and monitored inside an organization. It covers model risk, data privacy, third-party usage, autonomy limits, and regulatory compliance such as the EU AI Act.
Context
AI governance maturity is one of the best predictors of how fast a regulated business can move on AI. Organizations with clear policies — what's allowed, what requires review, what's prohibited — ship more, not less. Designed well, governance is the enabler of responsible autonomy, not the blocker.
