PitchStable (PSL)
A sovereign-backed stablecoin pegged to the world's only naturally replenishing commodity — projecting US$2.88B in issuance.
Challenge
Trinidad and Tobago faces a structural forex crisis as energy revenues decline. The country sits on a unique sovereign asset — the Pitch Lake, the world's largest natural asphalt deposit, 100% government-owned, valued at US$2.4-6.5 billion, naturally replenishing 25,000-35,000 tons annually.
The challenge: monetize this sovereign asset digitally — generating hard-currency forex inflows without depleting physical stock — while navigating regulatory, technical, and reputational complexities.
Approach
Alton Worldwide designed PitchStable (PSL) as a blockchain-native asset pegged 1:1 to the USD value of one metric ton of TLA (US$400-650 /tonne), fully collateralized by physical sovereign reserves with a dynamic over-collateralization mechanism.
A five-year model projects US$2.88B in issuance across three revenue streams: reserve yields (US$144M), transaction fees (US$50M), and forex uplift (US$140M). Governance was structured as a JV with majority state equity and a 3-of-5 multi-sig.
The oracle stack combines satellite imagery, BDO-attested warehouse receipts, and Chainlink price feeds for continuous on-chain proof of reserves.
Result
PitchStable entered Phase 1 in Q2 2026: TTSEC registration, multi-sig wallet deployment, and testnet issuance of 10,000 PSL units. Phase 2 targets mainnet launch with US$288M Year 1 issuance.
The financial model projects US$968M in cumulative hard-currency inflows to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. PitchStable is a first-of-its-kind asset class — sovereign-backed, commodity-pegged, naturally replenishing.
